Privacy Policy

MyEnglishNameIs (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the website at v0-myenglishnameis.vercel.app. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to satisfy obligations under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR — the UK law that gives individuals control over their personal data) and China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL — 个人信息保护法, China’s equivalent data-protection law).

1. What we collect today

Profile choices (form inputs)

When you use the name generator you choose options such as name style, energy level, personality traits, and optionally an MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator — a personality-classification system) type, zodiac sign, or your original Chinese name. We call this your “profile”. These choices are sent in a single request to our AI (Artificial Intelligence) provider (see section 3) to generate your name recommendations. We do not currently store your profile after that request completes.

Optional original name

If you type your original name (Chinese or other) it is sent to OpenAI solely to help produce a phonetically complementary English name. It is not stored, logged, or used for any other purpose.

Analytics events (PostHog)

We use PostHog, a product analytics (visitor-behavior measurement) service, to understand how people use the site. PostHog records anonymized events such as “form submitted” and “names returned”. For anonymous visitors PostHog does not build a personal profile. Events include only the choices you made (e.g., name style, trait count) — never your original name or any free-text input.

PostHog is hosted in the United States. Analytics data is therefore transferred to the US under PostHog’s data processing agreement, which incorporates the safeguards required by UK GDPR for international transfers.

2. What we plan to collect (future)

When we launch the paid Full Name Report (planned later in 2026) we will also collect:

• Result persistence — your profile and generated names will be stored on our servers (Neon, a US-based PostgreSQL database — a type of structured data storage) so you can return to your results via a permanent link.
• Email address — at the point of purchase, collected via Stripe (our payment processor) and used to send your receipt and report access link. We will ask for separate consent before collecting your email.

We will update this policy and seek any required consents before activating either of these features.

3. Third-party services we use today

• OpenAI (US)— your profile choices (and optionally your original name) are sent to OpenAI’s API (Application Programming Interface — a secure channel that lets our server talk to OpenAI) to generate name recommendations. OpenAI processes this data on servers located in the United States. OpenAI’s privacy policy: openai.com/privacy.
• Vercel (US) — our website is hosted on Vercel. Standard server access logs (IP address, request path, timestamp) may be retained by Vercel for security purposes.
• PostHog (US)— analytics, as described in section 1.

4. Cross-border data transfer — PIPL separate consent

By submitting the name-generation form you separately and expressly consent to your profile choices being transferred to and processed by OpenAI on servers located outside the People’s Republic of China (specifically, in the United States), for the sole purpose of generating English name recommendations. If you do not consent to this cross-border transfer, please do not submit the form.

5. Cookies

PostHog sets a first-party cookie (a tiny text file stored in your browser) to distinguish separate visits from the same browser. It does not track you across other websites. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.

6. Your rights

Depending on your country of residence you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Request deletion of your personal information (the “right to be forgotten”).
• Object to or restrict certain types of processing.
• Withdraw consent at any time where processing is consent-based.

Because we do not currently store your profile after generating names, most of your data is never retained. For questions or deletion requests regarding PostHog analytics data, or for any other privacy inquiry, email us at dengdan01@gmail.com.

8. Changes to this policy

We will post any material changes to this page and update the “Last updated” date. For significant changes affecting your rights (such as beginning to store profiles), we will provide additional notice before the change takes effect.

一、我们目前收集的信息

性格偏好（表单填写内容）

当您使用英文名生成功能时，您需要选择姓名风格、能量类型、性格特征，以及可选填写 MBTI 类型、星座和您的中文原名。我们将这些选择统称为“个人档案”。这些信息仅在单次请求中被发送至 AI 服务提供商（详见第三条），用于生成英文名建议。我们目前不会在请求完成后存储您的个人档案。

可选原名

如果您填写了原名（中文或其他语言），该信息仅用于帮助生成音韵上与您相符的英文名，不会被存储或用于任何其他目的。

匿名分析数据（PostHog）

我们使用 PostHog 分析服务（部署于美国）来了解用户的使用情况。PostHog 记录的事件数据为匿名化数据（例如“已提交表单”），不包含您的原名或任何自由文本输入，也不会为匿名访客建立个人画像。

二、未来计划收集的信息

当我们推出付费“完整姓名报告”功能时（计划于2026年晚些时候），我们还将收集：

• 结果持久化存储——您的个人档案和生成结果将存储于我们位于美国的服务器（Neon 数据库），以便您通过永久链接再次查看。
• 电子邮件地址——在付款时通过 Stripe 收集，用于发送收据和报告访问链接。我们将在收集前单独征求您的同意。

在启用上述功能前，我们将更新本政策并征得所需同意。

三、我们使用的第三方服务

• OpenAI（美国）——您的个人档案（及可选原名）将通过加密接口发送至 OpenAI，用于生成英文名建议。OpenAI 的服务器位于中国大陆境外（美国）。
• Vercel（美国）——网站托管服务，可能保留标准访问日志（IP 地址、请求路径、时间戳）。
• PostHog（美国）——匿名分析服务，详见第一条。

四、个人信息出境——PIPL 跨境传输单独同意条款

您在提交英文名生成表单时，即表示您已单独、明确地同意：您的个人档案选择将被传输至中国大陆境外（具体为美国），由 OpenAI 处理，目的仅限于生成英文名建议。若您不同意上述跨境传输，请勿提交表单。

五、Cookie

PostHog 会在您的浏览器中设置第一方 Cookie（一种小型文本文件），用于区分同一浏览器的不同访问。该 Cookie 不会跨网站追踪您，我们不使用任何广告或第三方追踪 Cookie。

六、您的权利

根据适用法律，您可能享有以下权利：

• 查阅我们持有的关于您的个人信息；
• 要求删除您的个人信息（“被遗忘权”）；
• 反对或限制某些类型的处理；
• 随时撤回同意（适用于基于同意的处理情形）。
